My readers are calling Little Big Man “an animal.” It’s BIG, of that there is no doubt, but it’s not long. (Well, at least I don’t think it is). Others tell me they love what they’ve been reading. (Well, they are my friends after all, but I guess it’s better than them diplomatically calling it “interesting’). I’d love to hear what YOU have to say. So, please…comment here. Before you do, let tell you a little about “Little Big Man….”
In writing “Little Big Man” I “discovered” that I feel like I’ve lived –and used up– 8 separate and distinct lives. (and damn, I’m hoping we have more than 9). Thus, 8 chronological, linear Chapters emerged naturally. Sneak a peek at chapters one and two here.
TALL TALES, is basically a short story, but so outrageous that if the “average” person were to live just ONE of these, he’d tell it over and over for entire life. I’ve got about a hundred. Ready to be blown away? Then click here.
MY PHILOSOPHY (for what it’s worth), is my take on what occurred at a certain point in time in my life, and how it affected me and changed my outlook, no matter how small. Or sometimes, meditations on themes that are universal…Love, Loss, Sex, Fear, Romance…
IT’S JUST PART OF LIFE is a stand-alone segment, apropos of nothing, which I’ve done my best to place at a spot in the book where it makes the most sense . These entries are generally pretty visceral/raw/on-the-edge, and cover things like my Scars, Tattoos, Drug Use, etc. If you’re brave enough, click here for a teaser.
The DIARY entries, which were written within the time frame I wrote this book, do appear chronologically, during one of the toughest times of my life Read a sample entry here.
Then, in what I hope will go down in Literary History as a great reinvention of Structure (as opposed to a complete mess), I’ve interwoven these four types of the entries with the actual Chapters. We’ll see…
The Introduction to Little Big Man:
I wrote this book over the course of nearly two years, and in no chronological order, whatsoever. Rarely, would I backtrack and read what I’d written previously.
My writing has been accelerating, vastly, of late, and the end is in sight. I’m so excited. I’m purposefully not going back, because I’m feverishly looking forward to that day –or late night—when I take stock of all I’ve written and attempt to assemble into a BOOK.
I mention not going back for a reason- BECAUSE on the occasions when I have gone back, to complete something I’d started days or even months before, I’d start to notice some inconsistencies. Not where FACTS are concerned, but more so in how I was looking at, or felt about something that had happened in my life. I attribute this to a natural course of “progression,” or the result of major occurrences in my life as I wrote. Or, something as simple as a mood swing. For a moment I contemplated going back to make everything “consistent”, but only for a moment. Hey, maybe I’m lazy, but my rationale is three-fold: 1) Little Big Man, is as much stream of consciousness/state-of-mind as it is about my story of what happened on the physical plane.

Where do I buy your book? Fascinating! MUST READ YOUR BOOK!!!!
Cant wait to read the book, Will there be much on the young Sting and Warrior? I’d really like to hear about the formation of powerteam USA and some other before they broke in. Good luck with it and I hope its a great success.
Thank you for the kind words; much appreciated! “Little Big Man” features a short, yet solid account on young Sting & Warrior, and the formation of PowerTeam USA, later encounters with each and finally, my thoughts on both today. Thank you for your support.-
Enjoyed reading this, very good stuff, thankyou . “Whenever you want to marry someone, go have lunch with his ex-wife.” by Francis William Bourdillon.
Hi. I read ALL of this last Thursday night.
I WANT YOU TO RECOGNIZE the fact that i have now read most of this 3 times. 3 separate times- and have given your work a ton of thought and consideration.
As before:
i think its wonderful. i think yours is an incredible and inspiring story, and your voice has a charming, active candor that can only be attributed to an artist of great talent who knows exactly who he is.
Thank you for sharing it and i look forward to reading it in hard cover.
take care lovely man,
Kat
Just finished reading all that you sent me. I have really enjoyed it. As I conveyed on Saturday, I like your pace/tenor/tone. You have displayed a lot of insight and perspective.
i can’t even tell you how good i feel about this project. REGARDLESS of outcome, you’re nailing it. not only is it REALLY GOOD and @#$%^&* ENTERTAINING (which i’ve said truthfully so many times that its becoming boring), youre so damn consistent with the quality and delivery. i’ve not read a lame vignette…or SENTENCE yet!
i honestly feel like your inadvertently dancing on something even bigger than you initially imagined or are anticipating. i think writing this may have just been like the liquid Drano to being open to the next story that you will serve as a medium for. does that make sense? i cant help but feel like you’re only beginning…mostly because this thing just gets better and better. It’s like your JUST getting started. GOOD LUCK MY FRIEND
Got a good portion of the pages of your book read and I really like what you’ve written. I really loved the pizza story, where you and your pals would steal from the delivery guy, hilarious!!!!!
I think you have a great book, you’ve been through a lot but still strive to make the most out of life and don’t use it as a crutch or excuse to do nothing. It would be a great read and inspiration for others that have hit their lowest of lows.
Good stuff Rick
Couldn’t put it down. I suspect most people won’t be able to either. Got me good with the Halme story. Didn’t see that ending coming. Mexico was great too! Sorry I missed that trip…(NOT!)
Okay… I love it…. You are an amazing writer. I have had the opportunity to witness you and Ramone, you two love birds in action, Whether we are at Sushi or out at a cool bar in LA… He’s there, he’s your baby… and it’s awesome. 🙂 xo
Great job! Your writing level is really getting high and it makes the reader feel like they were there. I remember this story. Extra funny to me cause I got shook down in Mexico at least a half dozen times over the years. The trick is to offer the $ before you get taken to jail.
I just finished reading your book and its really good. You truly inspire me!!! You’re amazing…
I have a special place in my heart for you and our friendship! I couldn’t help but re-live 1980 when you got sick and all your friends left for college. I remember coming to visit you at your house every day after school just to say hi. But every time I knocked on the door I was scared that Brendie would tell me to go way because I was bugging you. As crazy as it sounds given how sick you were I always had best time just hanging with you. In fact those were some of my most fondest memories of high school i.e.

“My Thoughts”
once again, i don’t want to bore you with another positive review but……LOVE it!
why? because amidst all the terrifying things you went through…you make me, the reader, LAUGH OUT LOUD. your wit and insight are dead on. honestly. sincerely. i love that. thats life. THAT is beautiful. that IS what makes life worth living.
“The Kiss” entry……NOT goofy. Save it. You WILL find the perfect place for it. (thats me as your editor)
I LOVE IT. more than you will ever know. (thats me as me.)
Moremoremoremoremore
beautifully descriptive, and filled with imagery, dear….
when you describe the things that happen, i feel a lump in my throat over some of the things you write…
love you lots
Rick love everything so far. Your pitch and forward. I read the first section all the way to the ungratefulness of lesner and cena and unfortunately brings up things I’ve experienced in my life, as I’m sure it will for all
Must stop tonight and pick it up this week. I need rest. I am intrigued and want to continue. I know of a lot of the dark places you’ve been and the temptations you’ve had. I love and respect your courage and honesty for pouring you life’s blood onto these pages. I encourage and empower you to see this thing through. Incant wait and expect a hand signed copy. Of course count me in on endorsing it some day as well. Sorry got typos from phone. Love you brother. Until later. a bientot
